Barriobajero liked this
Barriobajero is a project by Silvia Bianchi and Ricardo Juárez. It began as a tumblr log on March 2010 and it has evolved into a overchanging platform including publications, apparel and curating.
The first collective exhibition, "Barriobajero liked this, a peripheral collection", which took place in Madrid on the 3rd of december 2010 featured the work of several artists from all over the world: Das Graphiker, Micah Schippa, Brian Khek, Nat, Jonay Pmatos, Cañero, Nic Wilson, Parker Ito As Deke Mcclelland Two, Adam Cruces, Oscar Pastarus, Andrés Gallardo, Rasmus Svensson, Hanna Terese, Rafael Suñén, Senyor Pablo, Roberto Salas, Travess Smalley, Mansi Shah and Joel Evey.
This exhibition talked about weird art, fashion, internet, and any others barriobajero and tumblr related topics. The aim of the exhibition was to take the tumblr concept into reality, creating a real-life blog, where you can like, follow and reblog.
The purpose of this show was to create a network between artists, diffuse their work and promote a kind of non-conventional view of art in a one day exhibition at Madrid and in an online exhibition.
The central thread of the exhibition was the relationship between art, fashion, net and video in contemporary art and the persistence of some patterns and stylemes at a global level.
